The Still Stuffed Gossip

CHELSEA TO MOVE FOR MIRANDAThe Mirror 'understands' Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo was in Spain over the weekend to watch Brazil centre-back Miranda in action for Atletico Madrid.

Atletico conceded twice in a 2-2 draw at Malaga, but Miranda will enter into the final year of his contract in the summer and so could be available for a 'cut-price fee', seemingly catching the interest of the now-shrewd Blues.

At 30, Miranda is unlikely to return the west Londoners a profit, but John Terry may have to cut down on his game time as he enters the twilight years of his career, while further reports suggest Branislav Ivanovic, who provides cover for centre-back, could leave Stamford Bridge.

The Mirror adds Miranda is, quite understandably, 'said to see the opportunity to sign for Chelsea as his last big chance to earn a move to another top European club'.

ARSENAL SEAL DEAL FOR NEXT MESSIIt was reported last week that Arsenal transfer fixer Dick Law had flown to Argentina in a bid to sort a deal for 16-year-old forward Maxi Romero, who predictably has been likened to Lionel Messi.

Well, the good news for Gunners fans is that the Mirror says issues over Romero's ownership rights have been resolved, clearing the path for the Velez Sarsfield youngster to make a £4.5million move to Emirates Stadium.

In more good news for any fans worried Arsene Wenger might try to claim he does not need to sign another striker having landed Romero, it is suggested the teenager will spend a further two seasons back on loan with Velez before launching his Premier League career as an 18-year-old.

Romero, incidentally, has yet to even make his first-team debut for the Argentinian outfit.
