The Office of the Swiss Attorney General has opened criminal proceedings against Sepp Blatter Sky Sports News HQ reporter Aidan Magee provides the latest on FIFA in the wake of a statement from the Office of the Swiss Attorney General opening criminal proceedings against Sepp Blatter. What do the Swiss Attorney General mean when they say they have opened criminal proceedings? We know that Sepp Blatter is currently being questioned by representatives of the Swiss Attorney General. It is important to be clear that he has not been arrested. He is not at the moment required to appear in court, and he will stillThey have started collecting evidence and they will now be questioning Mr Blatter, as well as potential witnesses, to see if there is enough evidence to bring charges. And this will, of course, take a long period of time. What more details do we know?

The Attorney General's office said the investigation surrounds a TV rights deal that Mr Blatter signed with former Caribbean football chief Jack Warner in 2005. Mr Blatter is also suspected of "a disloyal payment" in 2011 to the UEFA president Michel Platini. How will this impact Blatter's ability to continue to run FIFA? Officials at EXCO were in complete shock that the press conference was cancelled, never mind the fact the police turned up. Indications are that the next EXCO meeting - due to be held in Japan in December - will now be held in Zurich to prevent Mr Blatter having to travel. That suggests FIFA are expecting Blatter to continue in his role at least until then - and that leaves only two months until the new president is elected on February 26. UEFA president Michel Platini has been named in the statement from the Swiss Attorney General - what does this mean for his chances of replacing Blatter as president? go home on Friday night.

Football figures including Sammy Lee cleared of charges over Gavin McCann transfer

Senior football figures including former England coach Sammy Lee have been cleared of all charges after being accused of offences over a £1m Premier League transfer deal. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) offered no evidence against Bolton, their chairman Phil Gartside and others from the club, as well as top agent Jerome Anderson and others from his SEM firm, and the retired midfielder Gavin McCann. Agent Tony McGill started a private prosecution against the parties, following a legal battle over his claims he was cut out of McCann's transfer from Aston Villa to Bolton in 2007. The CPS took over the case and at a hearing at Newcastle Crown Court, the prosecution formally offered no evidence. As a technicality, all the charges were read out to the parties from Bolton, SEM and Mr McCann, and "not guilty" pleas were entered to all. After hearing the CPS was not offering any evidence, Judge Tim Gittins told the defendants: "That brings the matter to an end." The issue of costs for all sides has yet to be decided. Lee, currently a coach at Southampton, was Bolton manager at the time of McCann's 2007 move.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder was forced off just three minutes after his introduction in the second-half of Barcelona's 1-1 draw in Rome, having been caught by a strong challenge from Giallorossi midfielder Radja Nainggolan.
Rafinha was carried off on a stretcher and Barca head coach Luis Enrique conceded after the match that it "doesn't look good" for the Brazil international.
Their worst fears were confirmed on Thursday when a scan of the injury revealed the Blaugrana youth product had torn his right anterior cruciate ligament and was due to have an operation this week.

Rafinha is expected to be ruled out for at least six months, although reports in Spain have suggested the injury has ended his season completely.
A statement on the club's official website read: "Tests this morning have revealed that FC Barcelona midfielder Rafael Alcantara - also known as 'Rafinha' - has suffered a tear to the anterior cruciate ligament in his right leg. He will undergo surgery in the coming days."
